No. 219: Chocolate Yogurt Popsicles

After our success with vino pops and delicious yogurt breakfast popsicles, I was ready to try a true dessert version. This recipe seemed incredibly simple; too easy not to give a go.

Ingredients

2 cups low fat Greek yogurt
3/4 cup mini semi sweet chocolate chips

To make

Place chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Add about 1/2 cup of yogurt to the bowl and microwave on high for 45 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir until chocolate is completely melted and incorporated into yogurt. Let cool to room temperature.

Cooled yogurt

Stir chocolate into remaining yogurt. Spoon into popsicle molds.

In mold

Freeze for at least 6 hours.

The results

While I love the tangy Greek yogurt in these popsicles, I'm not quite sold on this recipe.

Final popsicle

If it seems too good/easy to be true, it probably is. Two ingredients isn't enough to get the depth of flavor I was hoping for in these pops.

You could add vanilla or some cocoa powder to the yogurt, but I think next time I'll just go for the Smitten Kitchen version. Sometimes you just need some butter and whole milk:)
